Oracle has updated the commercial version of the database (MySQL) for Windows, added a graphical installer and the ability to perform failover clustering, on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 the company announced. . Both of these features will help make MySQL Enterprise Edition a more robust database choice for Windows customers, potentially expanding its user base beyond enterprise Linux users - supervisors. Oracle marketing director Bertrand Mattheli noted in a blog post.

Oracle designed the new MySQL Installer installer for Windows to simplify the MySQL installation process and related tools. The new user interface guides users through the wizard-based installation process. Not only can it install MySQL on Windows computers, but also other related programs (such as MySQL Workbench and MySQL Query Analyzer). The software can also automatically update all MySQL products with patches and updates as needed.

The failover clustering has also been added. This feature can be quite convenient for organizations that require their databases to have continuous uptime, high availability (HA).

When running on Windows Server 2008 R2, MySQL Enterprise Edition can detect when a copy of MySQL stops working, either due to a hardware failure or due to some errors in the database software itself. The console will alert the administrator to restart the database or server when an error occurs.

On September 15, 2011, Oracle will hold a webinar session to continue explaining how to use the new features.
