This week Maingear announced a 3D gaming laptop with an overclocked 4.8GHz processor, an attempt to "outmaneuver" rivals.

The overclocked processor in eX-L 17 3D is Intel's latest quad-core Core i7-2920XM processor. It usually runs at 2.5GHz, but can increase to 3.5GHz under certain conditions, for example, when there is an idle core (idle). Core i7-2920XM is based on Intel's latest Sandy Bridge microarchitecture, has 8MB of cache and consumes up to 55W of power.

The laptop has a 17.3-inch LED-backlit display (3D viewable using NVIDIA glasses), NVIDIA GeForce GTX485M graphics card for 3D gaming. This graphics card is compatible with Microsoft's DirectX 11 graphics technology, which can bring a more realistic gaming experience to Windows 7 laptops.
