IdeaPad U460 owns a floating keyboard like the MacBook

Unlike the previous IdeaPad series, the U460's keystroke system is designed to resemble the MacBook keyboard.

The configuration is not strong, but IdeaPad U460 is equipped with many proprietary technologies from Lenovo. And, unlike previous IdeaPads, the U460's keystroke system is designed to resemble the MacBook keyboard.

Design

IdeaPad U460 has a 14-inch screen but the device has a slim design so the IdeaPad U460 weighs less than 2kg. The IdeaPad U460's outer surface is covered with patterns and a shiny steel layer. The system of keystrokes is designed to be similar to the keyboard of MacBook, allowing users to input data more sensitive and easier to use.

The IdeaPad U460 also arranges the Ctr key outside the same as the keyboard mechanism on the PC to make it easier for users to manipulate. However, the keys like Tab and Windows are designed quite small, and the keyboard itself has no backlighting, so it is difficult to manipulate in the dark. Compared to other U-series Ideapad versions, the U460's surface is quite 'clean', with almost no buttons except the power button and mute button. If you want to adjust the volume of the device or perform a few other sub-tweaks, users have to adjust directly on Windows rather than having separate touch buttons like many other laptops.

The front edge of the device also has absolutely no plugs. Headphone and mic jacks are located on the right side of the device along with 3 USB ports, card reader slot, Wi-Fi toggle button and power jack. However, the U460 also comes with eSATA, HDMI and VGA ports. If using an external mouse, users can plug in the eSATA port to run as a normal USB port. Between the HDMI and VGA ports is the heat sink. Testing showed that the machine ran very cool and there was no sound of the fan.

The IdeaPad U460's touchpad is designed with the same color as the machine surface, the operation is quite responsive, Touchpad also has the ability to multi-touch to bring more interesting experiences to users.

Function

IdeaPad U460 is equipped with many specialized features, such as facial recognition, fingerprint recognition, shockproof mechanism, resilience with just one button, light sensor and Dolby sound.

Anti-shock technology helps to better protect the computer against sudden collisions. Then, the data section will be prioritized for maximum protection. Integrated fingerprint recognition technology helps users feel secure when logging on to the computer. In addition, the screen of the device is fitted with a light sensor, capable of adjusting the brightness according to the surrounding environment, both to match the user's eyes, and to save battery.

The IdeaPad U460 has face recognition capabilities via a 1.3-megapixel webcam mounted on the top of the screen. However, IdeaPad U460 is not identified by photos (on the camera's LCD screen), so it can eliminate the possibility of being "fooled" like previous IdeaPad versions.

In terms of sound, although equipped with Dolby 2.0 technology, the quality of the speaker is not as expected. You should use headphones, or plug in the speaker system if you want to enjoy Dolby 2.0's "floating" sound quality. Or, you can install additional software such as DFX to 'power' Windows Media Player or any media software on your device.

In terms of configuration, the IdeaPad U460 is quite modest, it is only equipped with P6000 processor (1.86GHz / 1066Mhz / 3MB L2 Cache), 2GB DDR3 RAM, 320GB hard drive, 14.1 WXGA LED screen, Wi-Fi b / g / n, Gigabit LAN, Intel GMA HD integrated graphics .
