Limitations when deleting messages in Microsoft Teams
Designed with institutional memory in mind, the way Microsoft Teams deletes messages and chats is more complicated than other messaging apps. These are things to keep in mind before you try to delete anything.
- You cannot delete other people's messages. Unless you are the admin, you cannot delete other people's chats, or even hide them from your view.
- Not all Teams accounts allow you to delete your messages. Not all groups allow you to delete your messages. Some just let you edit them instead of deleting them completely. If the delete option is not there, there is nothing you can do with it.
- Hide or disable channel notifications is an option. If you want to keep Microsoft Teams tidy, you can choose to hide or turn off single-channel notifications for less distractions. It won't delete anything, but you won't need to see it anymore.
