How to Craft a Beacon in Minecraft

This article shows you how to make a beacon in Minecraft survival mode. Although not an easy task, creating a beacon not only helps the player's base be seen from almost anywhere on the map, but also enhances the player's character's good effects. You can craft beacons in all versions of Minecraft, including PC, Pocket Edition, and Console Edition.

Know the shape of the beacon. A beacon is a square at least 3x3 in size, one block high, usually made of an iron block (or a gold block, diamond and/or emerald is fine) with a beacon block placed on top. If you want to improve the energy and range of the beacon, you need to build a square base of 5x5, 7x7 and 9x9 for each respective power level.

Crafting a beacon can be a tedious task, as you need at least 81 iron ingots to craft the base.

Collect necessary ingredients. To craft a beacon, you need the following items:

At least 81 iron ore - Mine lots of iron ore—gray stone with orange spots—with a stone pickaxe or more. You can use emeralds, gold, or diamonds, but these ores are much rarer than iron and have no special effects on beacons.

Three blocks of obsidian - Obsidian is formed by letting water flow into lava from above. You can find it deep in the cave. You need a diamond pickaxe to mine obsidian.

Five blocks of sand - You will use sand to create glass.

Nether Star - Kill the Wither and pick up the dropped star. Withers appear extremely rarely and are very difficult to kill for low level players, so remember to prepare carefully.

Fuel - Wood planks or coal can both be used. You will need this for the furnace when melting glass and iron bars.

You can add a 49-block 7x7 base under the 5x5 base, and you can add an 81-block 9x9 base under the 7x7 base.

You cannot create a background larger than 9x9 blocks for a beacon.
