How to Craft Glass in Minecraft

Melt the glass block

Collect sand. You can use regular sand or red sand. Both types of sand can be made into regular glass.

Place the sand in the furnace. Craft a furnace using eight cobblestones if you don't have a furnace yet. Place it on the ground, then right-click to open the smelting frame. Move the sand into the square at the top.

Add fuel. Place coal, wood or any other fuel in the square at the bottom of the furnace. As long as there is fuel in the furnace, each block of sand will turn into a block of glass. You need to wait a few seconds for each block to form, so be patient.

Take the glass from the furnace. The glass will appear in the finished square in the fusing frame. If left as the default Minecraft skin, glass looks like a light blue, almost transparent block.

Place glass. Glass is a monolithic block that allows light to penetrate completely. You can't restore the glass block by breaking it, so don't put it down until you're sure you want to put it there.

A tool enchanted with Silk Touch can restore the glass block intact.

Craft other items from glass

Turn glass blocks into glass panels. You can turn six glass blocks into 16 glass panes. This is a thin, vertical block that you can use as a window. In the PC version, create a rectangle in the crafting window that is three squares wide and two squares long.

Glass panels can look strange or even invisible when not attached to anything nearby. When you place another block next to them, the glass plate will automatically change shape to attach to that block.

You cannot make glass panels horizontally (floor). If you want to craft a glass floor, use glass blocks.

Dye the glass block into different colors. To craft stained glass, place eight glass blocks around the crafting frame. Place any dye in the center to get eight dyed glass blocks.

Dyed glass is not available in Pocket Edition as of update 0.16.2. It's in a future update.

You can dye many colors by placing a flower in the crafting frame. Ink sacs, bone meal, lapis lazuli and cocoa beans can also be dyes.

Manufacturing glass bottles. Are you interested in mixing medicines? First, you need to craft a glass bottle. Let's create a "V" shape in the crafting frame using three glass blocks. This is the step that creates three glass bottles.

To fill the bottle, keep it in the quick action bar and use it in any water body.
