How to check FPS in the game on Android

One of the easiest ways to check if you have a smooth gaming experience is to keep an eye on the FPS counter.

There are plenty of ways you can monitor frame rates in PC games, but the options are much more limited when playing mobile games. The following article will help you learn how to check the number of frames per second in a game on your Android phone or tablet.

1. Track FPS with the default Game Booster app

Most performance-focused Android phones come with their own game-boosting apps or plugins. For Poco it's the Game Turbo service, for ROG phones it's called X Mode and there's also a separate gaming mode for OnePlus devices.

Usually, the easiest way to enable game mode on your phone is to launch a game that your game booster plugin supports (you'll automatically see a prominent message prompting you to enable or interfere with certain options). select). If not, find a separate game app in the app drawer and make sure your favorite games are added to the list.

For example, to enable FPS counter on OnePlus phones:

1. Launch any game you want to play. You will see a prominent message stating that the game mode features can be used for this game.
2. Swipe down from the top left or top right corner of the screen and a menu with loads of features will appear.
3. Scroll down through the options and tap on System Status .

This will show a fixed FPS counter when you are playing your game. Depending on your phone, you might even be able to see through other details like CPU and GPU usage.

2. Monitor frame rate with third-party apps

The above method should suffice for most gaming-focused phones from manufacturers like OnePlus, Xiaomi, ROG, and even Google. Unfortunately, not all phones come with a game mode pre-installed.

There are a number of third-party apps on the Play Store that claim to do the job for you. However, most of the apps tested only report your screen refresh rate instead of the actual frame rate the GPU is rendering. 1. Download FPS Counter app from Play Store and launch it.

2. Turn on the FPS Meter toggle and when prompted, tap Start Now to allow the app to record and cast your screen.

3. Launch any game you like and now you should see the FPS counter on your screen.

4. When you're done playing, remember to go back to the app and turn off the toggle switch.

You can also choose to enable low readings of 1% and 0.1% for your FPS and record the game using the app. In testing, the application was not always successful in showing FPS in certain games, but you can use another option if you want.
