Here's how iOS 18 makes sharing Wi-Fi passwords between iPhone and Android easier

If you are an iPhone user and sometimes want to share the Wi-Fi password with another Android user nearby, it is not an easy thing.

Apple's iPhones have the ability to share Wi-Fi passwords built-in, but obviously this feature only works with devices within the company's ecosystem.

However, this will change in iOS 18. The iOS 18 preview update announced earlier this week has a small but useful addition that allows you to share Wi-Fi passwords from iPhone to Android with just a click. a few simple steps. While testing the iOS 18 developer beta (available on these iPhone models), some people noticed that the newly launched Passwords app allows passwords to be shared as QR codes.

( Note : If you plan to install iOS 18 Developer Beta on your device, you should back up all data and proceed with caution. Pre-release versions of Apple software may contain bugs and unexpected problems, harm your data or affect the normal operation of your device).

Share Wi-Fi password from iPhone to Android

1. Open the Passwords app on iOS 18 Developer Beta.

2. Tap the Wi-Fi category listed on the main page.

3. Access the Wi-Fi network you want to share with others. The network you are connecting to will have a blue icon.

4. Click " Show Network QR Code " to display the QR code for that Wi-Fi network.

You can ask Android or iPhone users to scan this QR code directly to log in to the Wi-Fi network. Additionally, you can take a screenshot of the QR code to save for later access, or share via messaging apps.

In addition to Wi-Fi networks, this feature also works with personal hotspots that you have previously used on your iPhone. Since the Passwords app is available on iPadOS, this feature will work the same on iPad.

Note that app features may change over time as subsequent beta versions are released, and actual implementation in the stable version of iOS 18 may vary slightly.

The stable version of iOS 18 will launch later this year with a host of new features, including dark mode for the Home Screen app, flashlight improvements, Game Mode, T9 dialer, Apple Intelligence, New wallpapers, etc
