Developers, IT professionals and partners approach the RTM code according to the following roadmap:
- August 15: Developers who are building new applications for Windows 8 will be downloading the final version of Windows 8 via MSDN registration and can access Windows Dev Center to receive the development version. Final of Visual Studio 2012.
- August 15: IT professionals testing Windows 8 at organizations can get the final version of Windows 8 through registration at TechNet.
- August 16: Customers using Software Assurance for Windows can download Windows 8 Enterprise version through the Volume License Service Center (VLSC), Allows customers to evaluate, test and start deploying Windows 8 Enterprise in the enterprise.
- August 16: Members of Microsoft partner network will have access to Windows 8.
- August 20: Microsoft Action Pack service providers (MAPS) have access to Windows 8.
- September 1: Customers who purchase Volume License without Software Assurance can buy Windows 8 through a Microsoft dealer.
Developers can access the Windows Dev Center to access the tools and resources needed to design, build and sell applications on the Windows Store.
