Germany forced Microsoft not to impose a Windows 10 upgrade
Microsoft makes many users feel quite annoying when arbitrarily putting many things of Windows 10 on a user's PC, from downloaded files to unintended installations.
Microsoft makes many users feel quite annoying when arbitrarily putting many things of Windows 10 on a user's PC, from downloaded files to unintended installations.
Now there's a Redmond man who has to promise not to do it again, it's Germany.
In 2015, Microsoft allowed Windows 7 users and 8 free upgrades to be cloud-friendly to the new OS and increasingly ambitious for the operating system to appear on more computers. After installing monthly upgrades and security patches along with many usage tips, many users discovered that their computers had downloaded many gigabytes of Redmond code they didn't want.
This has angered many people, and Germany - one of the few countries that respect user rights - has come up with countermeasures. The customer center in Baden-Württemberg has submitted a request to stop Redmond's illegal work. The software giant had to approve and promised not to do so again.
Microsoft cannot overpower German users when upgrading the OS
'We all expect this to happen sooner but this is a success for the customer right in the digital world anyway,' said Cornelia Tausch, CEO of the Center.
As a result, in Germany, Microsoft will be less imposing, but that will not help us. 'Our goal is for customers to get the best upgrade experience and to use safe and efficient Windows products,' the Microsoft representative said. 'We are glad that the problem has been solved'.
This happened after Switzerland tried to convince Microsoft to lead to a relatively overhaul of personal rights on Windows 10. These changes were then applied globally so we can also hope More friendly upgrades will also apply in many places.
