On May 31, 2012, Dell announced a series of Latitude business laptops using Intel's latest Core i processors, which could provide about 33 hours of battery life, but had to use its external battery.
The Latitude E series laptops will come with screen sizes from 12.5-inch to 15.6-inch. Notably, the Latitude E6430 for business with 14-inch screen and Ivy Bridge processor, gives up to 32.7 hours of battery life.

The above battery life is achieved with a 9-cell battery and an external battery on the back of the device, with average usage for a laptop, Dell said.
The new Latitude line E notebooks are less expensive than they are because they use solid state drives (SSDs), which are said to be more energy efficient than hard drives. On the other hand, Intel's Ivy Bridge processors are also more energy efficient, saving power through features such as turning off unused cores.
In addition to E6430, Dell also announced Latitude E laptops, including E6230 (12.5-inch screen), E6330 (13.3-inch), E6530 (15.6-inch) and laptop Thin, light E6430S (14-inch). Currently the company has not yet stated the prices of these machines.
Dell also announced the Latitude ATG E6430 ultra-durable laptop, which can withstand extreme temperatures and environments. Dell's new laptops also have USB 3.0 ports, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and optional Bluetooth, optical drives (only some models).
