3 features on iPhone 16 Pro that make users excited
The iPhone 16 Pro - unveiled at Apple's Glowtime event - brings a whole new level of refinement to the flagship iPhones, with improvements that many even rate higher than the iPhone 15 Pro.
Its improvements even make many people appreciate it more than the iPhone 15 Pro. Here are 3 reasons why people are excited about this new model.
1. Improved Pro camera system
Let's start with the camera improvements Apple announced at its September 2024 keynote. For many, the most noticeable change will be the new 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera — an improvement over the 12MP camera that's been around since the iPhone 11 series — which promises more detail thanks to the higher resolution.
There are also improvements to the wide-angle and telephoto cameras, although the telephoto camera upgrade is exclusive to the iPhone 16 Pro. According to Apple, the 48MP Fusion camera has a new sensor that allows for more detailed photos and better video (4K video at up to 120FPS). This should be a noticeable upgrade if you're a creator.
As for the telephoto lens, the smaller 6.3-inch iPhone 16 Pro now has the same 12MP 5x telephoto camera as the iPhone 16 Pro Max, giving you a better zoom range when taking photos. It's an upgrade that's surprisingly appreciated.
There's also a new image signal processor built into the A18 Pro chip and an improved four-microphone array to capture external audio with greater detail.
2. Increase flexibility with Camera Control
While people love the camera upgrades, they're even more excited about the new Camera Control button that improves the iPhone photography experience. The new capacitive button allows for three types of interactions: full physical presses, short presses—where feedback is provided by a haptic motor—and swipe actions.
These gestures will allow users to take photos, switch lenses, zoom in/out, etc. At first glance, it eliminates the need to touch the screen, which often causes the perfect photo moment to slip away.
The Camera Control button also enables seamless use of visual intelligence, a Google Lens-like feature that lets you quickly pull up results and create actions by scanning your surroundings. Visual intelligence wasn't part of the many AI features Apple announced at WWDC 2024, but it's a welcome addition nonetheless with a subtle implementation.
3. Bigger battery and faster wireless charging
Last on the list is improved battery life and support for faster wireless charging. Apple's video playback figures say the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will last 4 hours longer than previous generations. That's a welcome improvement, as is 25W wireless charging with MagSafe accessories and 15W wireless charging with Qi2-certified hardware.
Overall, while these changes aren't groundbreaking, they add another layer of refinement to the delicate balance Apple found in the iPhone 15 Pro models, and people can't wait to test them out once they get their hands on the device.
