Xiaomi's 'empty' smartphone factory

The new generation smartphone factory, operating 24 hours a day without any workers, only robots, located in Changping, Beijing (China) will soon go into operation.

Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi Lei Jun recently revealed on Weibo that the new generation smartphone factory, operating 24 hours a day without any workers, only robots, is located in Changping, Beijing (China) will soon go into operation.

Xiaomi's new factory impresses because it is completely automated, and the machines inside can even cooperate with each other.

The factory's production quality will be controlled by smart machines developed by Xiaomi itself. This factory has an impressive production speed of up to one smartphone per second.

The new factory located in Changping occupies a construction area of 81,000 square meters, with an investment cost of 2.4 billion yuan (about 305 million EUR). The factory is certified as China's 'national smart manufacturing standard enterprise' with an annual production capacity of 10 million high-end smartphones.

This is also the place to produce folding screen phones that Xiaomi is launching this month, including MIX Fold4 and Mix Flip.

This smart factory is just a small step for Xiaomi to explore the future.

In fact, Xiaomi has been applying automation to its production process for a long time even though it still requires the presence of humans, such as Xiaomi's smart factory in Yizhuang, Beijing that went into operation from early 2019.
