Windows users furious over Microsoft update
Windows users are advised to be cautious before installing the latest update due in January 2025.
This is said to be due to a number of reported issues, with complaints mainly relating to the USB DAC driver, but also issues with other devices such as headphones and webcams. While these updates are not specific to Windows 11 24H2, the bugs that have arisen could add to the controversy surrounding the operating system.

Windows updates have been having problems lately.
Recent patches for Windows 10 and 11 have caused problems with USB connections, Bluetooth devices, and some other features. Users experiencing issues should consider rolling back to a previous version of the operating system. Those who are concerned about potential issues and have not updated their systems this month may want to delay installing the patches.
Microsoft has released regular security updates, including KB5049981 for Windows 10, KB5050009 for Windows 11 24H2, and KB5050021 for earlier versions of Windows 11.
Microsoft's support team has acknowledged a number of issues with these updates, including issues with Open Secure Shell and Citrix components. Users have also reported a number of other bugs, including issues with DAC drivers, Wi-Fi connections, and USB devices. In particular, webcams and Bluetooth headsets have stopped working after installing KB5050009. Software bugs have also affected tools like the Snipping Tool, Alt+Tab functionality, and Task Manager.
Users can submit complaints to Microsoft through the Feedback Hub app. To go back to a previous Windows build, go to Settings > System > Recovery > Go Back if the option is available. To delay updates, users can go to Settings > Windows Update and select the desired delay period.
Microsoft has also acknowledged the new incident.
Since the release of Windows 11 24H2 late last year, Microsoft has received a number of complaints related to the release. The update, which has now become mandatory, has been known to cause issues with games, SSDs, and other connected devices. In particular, users with non-cache Western Digital NVMe SSDs are advised to download the company's firmware patch before upgrading to Windows 11 24H2 to avoid BSODs. Microsoft also temporarily delayed the update for those who had installed some Ubisoft games after reports of the issue, but the affected games have since received the patch. Additionally, users have reported issues with eSCL-based USB devices such as scanners, printers, and modems.
Despite the issues, there's no denying some of the new features Windows 11 24H2 brings to users, including Copilot+ GenAI tools like automatic captioning, super-resolution, and image generator, along with Wi-Fi 7 support, Sudo, and remote desktop control.
