Microsoft will notify users if Windows 10 May 2020 Update is blocked on the system
Earlier this week, Microsoft began rolling out the Windows 10 May 2020 Update (20H1, Windows 10 2004) to all Windows 10 users around the world. This major feature update comes with a number of noticeable new features as well as improvements that enhance the user experience.
Outside of the 'tradition' of Windows updates, the May 2020 Update also contains a number of compatibility issues with the system. Microsoft has cataloged these errors on the support page and blocked the May 2020 Update update on affected devices.
Prior to that, it was hard to know whether a particular system was being blocked from updating or not because Windows Updates only displayed a very vague "You're up to date" message. To provide users with more detailed information, Microsoft made a small change to the Windows Update site. If the system is blocked due to a known issue, users will see the following message on their Windows Update:
' The Windows 10 May 2020 Update is on its way. We're offering this update to compatible devices, but your device isn't quite ready for it. Once your device is ready, you'll see the update available on this page. There's nothing you need to do at this time '.
(The Windows 10 May 2020 Update is currently in the works. We offer this update for compatible devices, but your device is not ready yet. When your device is ready ready, you should see the new update appear here. There is nothing for you to do right now. ')
Notice on Windows UpdateThis is a small change, but it brings the necessary transparency to users, so that they know that their system is not currently compatible with the new update. Moreover, it also ensures that users are not anxious to use ISO to update to the new version - a method that can cause system instability due to unsupported hardware.
Microsoft recently opened the release information page for Windows 10 May 2020 Update. This page provides the latest information on known issues and has been resolved on new updates. If the May 2020 Update is blocked on your system, you will see a 'Learn More' button. Click it to learn about known issues on the update to find a fix.
