Microsoft begins to force many computers to update Windows 10 21H2

Microsoft has begun implementing a 'campaign' to force computers running Windows 10 that are running out of support to Windows 10 version 21H2. This is also part of Microsoft's first phase of machine learning training.

"We've begun the first phase of our machine learning (ML) training rollout. In this phase, devices running out of support Windows 10 version 20H2 will be automatically updated to the Windows 10 version of Windows 10. version 21H2", Microsoft shared.

"We will continue to train our ML model through all stages to intelligently exploit the new version of Windows 10 and deliver a smooth update experience."

Before this wave, Microsoft used ML to deploy updates to devices running Windows 10 version 1909 and earlier in March 2021.

According to the status page of Windows 10 version 20H2, devices running Windows 10 version 20H2 (Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations) will be upgraded automatically in the coming months. The reason is because these versions will expire on 5/10/2022.

Microsoft implements mandatory automatic updates to ensure that they can fully service these devices with the latest updates, security updates, and enhancements.

Windows 10 21H2 is also rolling out to those who are using Windows 10 2004 or later but have an update need (who normally check for updates regularly). At this time, there are no incompatibility issues that cause Microsoft to block updates to Windows 10 21H2 for certain models.

Upgrading regularly to the latest version of Windows will ensure your computer is patched with vulnerabilities as early as possible, but sometimes also faces problems before other users.
