Use shading and contrast in photography
Shading and contrast in photography always bring something interesting to the picture. And to be able to create unique images, we also need to use shadows and contrast properly.
Shading and contrast techniques are used by many photographers during the shooting process. Bringing a new look to the image, the shadow and contrast will make the viewer be attracted to the picture and sometimes become the subject of the frame. And if you want to create magical images when using shadows and contrast, the following tips will help you get the picture you want.
1. Selecting the time of intense sun photography:
The most intense sun is at midday when we all don't choose to take photos because of the high contrast. But with images that are fanciful, dreaming is a very good time. Now forget the details in the shaded area and you should take pictures in RAW format for much more convenience when editing photos.
For cases like the one in the picture, immediately switch to black and white tones. Extremely high contrast images suitable for monochrome colors. You can also add contrast to the image for a better effect.
2. Choose a frame with natural contrast:
In many cases like the image below, when the light enters the window very little you will see that only the center of the image is bright enough, the subject is surrounded by a black color. Now switch to monochromatic tones, your photos instantly bring an incredibly unexpected effect.
3. Backlight shooting - Silhouettes:
Silhouettes is the term for backlit techniques. When you go to the mountains but on a bad day, take a backlit shot and choose a frame similar to the image above that will bring a fanciful picture. Now we just need to increase the contrast a bit and switch to the black and white tones to have the perfect picture right away.
In the picture of the sea below, you will see a lot of dark areas in the frame. After trying to take some photos, the two kids climbed onto the rock on the right and watched the sea. This is a great moment for you to capture backlight and enhance the art for the photo. At this point, the author used the exposure for 30 seconds to smooth the water surface and blur the subject to the left of the photo. With this type of image, you don't need to focus precisely on people, but focus on the landscape.
Then we continue to switch to black and white tones and achieve great results as shown below.
In the final photo, the author also uses shadows to increase the mystery of the photo. At this point, you just need to focus on the grass, to open the large lens to blur the sun. Then change the white balance to get the color you want, don't increase the contrast. Because the black and white tones do not work because it will make the highlight part sun sink into the shadow.
