Paul Kern was a Hungarian physicist, fighting in the Eastern Front during World War I. In 1915, Paul was shot and a bullet pierced the frontal lobe of the brain.
The miraculous thing happened, that bullet was unable to steal the life of the young soldier. The unconscious Paul was unconscious at the hospital in Budapest. When Paul opened his eyes and woke up, he never closed his eyes to sleep until he died.
After waking up, Paul could not sleep even though he visited many places, trying different methods from sleeping pills to hypnosis, but all failed. The doctors checked his skull and brain several times to find the cause, but they all "gave up."

Paul was fully awake and aware of the common sense even though he did not sleep for a minute in those years. Sometimes he has a headache caused by an old injury. Doctors all thought that Paul could not live long when he went against the rules of nature. But miraculously, he remained healthy and worked normally many years later.
When everyone fell asleep, Paul just lay down, closed his eyes for about 2 hours to rest, never to sleep.
In 1955, after 40 years without sleep, Paul died of old age. Neurologists from all over Europe have been studying strange cases to upset his perception of sleep, but no one has been able to come up with an answer. What happens in Paul's brain is still a mystery.
