Swallowing nearly 1,000 coins, Thai turtles died of blood infections

The doctors had surgery to remove nearly 1,000 coins from the turtle's body, but it was still unable to survive because of a blood infection.

A 25-year-old green sea turtle, weighing 54kg called Osmin, also known as Piggybank in Thailand, was found to be unable to move or move.

The turtle cannot move on land or swim underwater.

Osmin lives in a lake in Chonburi Province, where tourists often throw coins down to pray for good luck. Thinking it was food, it swallowed a lot of coins for a long time.

The doctors decided to surgically remove those coins from the turtle's stomach to save it. They picked up 915 coins with an amount of about 5kg out of Osmin's belly.

The surgery was successful, Osmin recovered very well. But the coins in Osmin's body caused her lungs to become severely infected and her health weakened and died
