RIP Galaxy S7: The best Samsung smartphone launched 4 years ago has just received the final update

While Apple continues to update new software for iPhone 5s and iPhone 6, launched 6-7 years ago.

In 2016, Samsung launched one of the best smartphones, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. In 2020, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have just received the final update. Samsung has officially killed the two smartphones, by removing them from the list of devices with software updates and security patches.

Samsung's flagship smartphones usually have a 4-year lifespan, so it's no surprise. However, Apple continues to update the software for iPhone 5s and iPhone 6, launched 6-7 years ago. Perhaps Samsung should study its competitors, extending the life of its flagship smartphones a few more years.

Recently, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have been rated as the best smartphones of the past decade by AndroidAuthority. This pair of Samsung smartphones also marked the end of the old style design on the Galaxy S, before Samsung made a drastic change with the Galaxy S9. Since then, Samsung smartphones have always improved in design, but have sold less each year since the Galaxy S7.

If you're still using a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge, consider upgrading to a newer smartphone. Because these smartphones will become the target of hacker attacks, after they no longer receive any updates.
