Nvidia CEO: 'Children should not learn to code', AI will take care of everything
At an event in Dubai last week, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang suggested that children should not learn to code because AI can take care of programming. His views are different from the long-standing views of previous technology CEOs.
According to him, we are in the early stages of the AI revolution and programming is no longer an important skill because artificial intelligence is taking on this job better and better. Therefore, instead of learning programming, people should focus on other more valuable expertise such as biology, education, manufacturing or agriculture.
CEO Nvidia shared a video on X on February 25 with the content, learning computer science is important for younger people learning programming. He said, technology companies are trying to create computing technology so that everyone in the world will be a programmer with the help of AI.
Mr. Huang added that young people should learn skills to become experts in more useful fields.
In January, Matthew Candy, IBM's AI Director, also shared that people without computer skills can develop their own software products with the help of artificial intelligence. In the future, people just need to come up with an idea for a product, and AI will quickly program, create and test that product. Then people will need questioning skills, creativity and innovation.
In mid-2023, Emad Mostaque, CEO of Stability AI, even predicted that in the next 5 years there will be no more programmers.
Jensen Huang's point of view received much agreement. However, technology industry analyst Patrick Moorhead said that Jensen Huang's advice was given too early. He said that he has heard that 'xyz will kill coding' for more than 30 years but currently we still do not have enough programmers.
According to Mr. Moorhead, AI will not make coding jobs disappear but will bring it to more people, increasing the number of AI jobs.
