New competitor of MacBook Air
Computer maker and TV Olidata (Italy) has introduced the ultra-thin Olidata Conte laptop with the appearance and specifications very similar to the MacBook Air.
At the Expo CES 2009, maker of computers and TV Olidata (Italy) introduced Olidata Conte ultra-thin laptop with the appearance and specifications very similar to Apple's fashion line of MacBook Air but the price only 1325USD.
U-Leader Design branded products, designed in partnership with Intel and have hardware specifications, are similar in design to Apple's ultra-thin laptops. Olidata Conte weighs about 1.5kg and the thickest point is only 0.9-inch thinner. The product is equipped with the same Intel Core 2 Duo S processor as the MacBook Air. However, the company has yet to disclose the clock speed of the chip is 1.6GHz or 1.86GHz.
Leading Olidata Conte line will have 13.3-inch LCD screen (1280x800 resolution), 16:10 frame rate and LED light as backlight. The lower model will have a screen of the same size but has an aspect ratio of 16: 9 and a resolution of 1366x768.
Due to its ultra-thin design, Olidata Conte has only one USB 2.0 port, HDMI output and audio jack. The product is not equipped with an optical drive, although users can opt for an external optical drive and a high-speed SSD but the capacity is unknown.
Olidata Conte supports standard Wi-Fi connectivity, high-speed 3G HSDPA-HSUPA network access and WiMAX broadband network, Bluetooth support. In addition, it is equipped with technology to support Intel Turbo Memory memory, backlit keyboard and fingerprint recognition. Virtual memory can reach 1Gb and is equipped with a traditional hard drive. The device's battery life is 4 hours and may be 7 hours.
U-Design will be launched around the world by Intel's partners in the same way as it distributed the previous Classmate PC computers. The product will go on sale in Europe in May for less than 1325USD.
