Netbook needs a bigger screen?

Via Technologies, Intel's rival chip company, said most users want a netbook with a 12-13 inch screen.

According to CNET magazine, in an interview, Glenn Henry, in charge of Via Technologies' Centaur Technology branch, said Via just started selling the power-saving Nano processor in the past week. Centaur developed Via's Nano processor.

Henry said many factors make people want a bigger netbook. ' People want to build a bigger netbook. Most of the concerns we have seen from customers are a netbook with a screen bigger than the HP (2133). Specifically, they want a 12-13 inch netbook , 'he said.

According to CNET, Via's most famous customer is Hewlett-Packard, which is using the Via C7 processor in the 2133 Mini-Note PC.

Although he refused to talk about the detailed design, Henry said many laptop manufacturers are interested in Via's new Nano chipset. Currently, Nano processor is considered the only real competitor of Intel's famous Atom chip. Atom is used in netbooks of many names, such as Acer, Asus, Lenovo, and Dell.

Henry said products using the Nano processor will not appear immediately. ' No product actually uses Nano sold to the final customer. The Nano processors we are selling are sold to laptop manufacturers, and it is in the process of manufacturing or product development . '

Typical netbooks are now mostly 7, 8 or 9 inch screens. The latest netbook uses the Atom Eee PC 1000 processor with a 10-inch screen.
