Minecraft 1.19: Instructions to find and destroy Warden

Warden is a new mob added after Minecraft 1.19 The Wild update. This terrifying creature attacks curious players, going too far and too deep.

For players looking for a truly worthy challenge, defeating Warden should be a priority.

However, Warden is not like many other mobs in the game. It needs certain conditions to spawn, only in specific locations and biomes. In this article, let's discover how to find and destroy Warden easily in Minecraft 1.19 The Wild.

Warden's spawn location

Warden doesn't follow mob spawn rules. First, the player needs to find a Deep Dark biome. This is the home of any Warden and is quite rare to find. They are usually located deep underground and extremely low.

Players will recognize this biome by its blue and turquoise sculk blocks. These are most commonly found in Ancient Cities, structures specific to Spawn Wardens in the Deep Dark biome.

How to spawn Warden

Once the player has discovered one of the Deep Dark biomes, look for a block called a sculk screeler. Walking within 16 blocks of one of these screeching sculks will cause it to activate.

After activating the sculk screamer at least 4 times and the ambient light level at most 11, it will sound for a few seconds and emit unique sound particles, to summon Warden.

The player will be cursed with the Darkness status effect, which lasts about 12 seconds. Warden will spawn near sculk screeching, so players should stay away and hide, as well as not make any sounds.

How to Defeat Warden

Warden is an extremely powerful hostile mob. For comparison, Wither has 300 HP in Java Edition regardless of game difficulty. Meanwhile, the Warden has 500 HP and environmental hazards like lava are of no help against it. Warden also doesn't have an innate weakness like Wither that takes extra Smite damage.

Since the Warden can't see anything, it can easily detect surrounding sounds, smell it, and chase the player without looking. This makes it a formidable predator in dark caves.

Killing the Warden is actually quite futile. It doesn't give more than 5 exp and a sculk catalyst, but it takes a lot of effort to kill one. Meanwhile, Wither gives 50 XP when killed.

Another problem with defeating the Warden is the futility of shields. A true melee attack can render the shield completely useless, so gamers should deal with this monster in long range.

However, Warden also has a powerful attack known as Sonic Boom, which can reach targets at incredible range and even overcome any defense the player may have, including Netherite armor, top level spells and shields.

Given all of this, the best strategy is to use a powerful bow and stay at least 15-20 blocks away from the Warden to avoid its Sonic Boom attack. Gamers can also trap the Warden into a hole it can't crawl out of and start sniping it from a distance. However, this way still has the risk of being hit by Sonic Boom damage from Warden.
