Messenger launches a series of new features, helping to connect and share more effectively
Messenger was created with the goal of fostering connection on Facebook by creating a safe and authentic space for private, meaningful conversations. To further enhance the user experience, Messenger is rolling out a number of brand new features, making it easier for users to chat, connect and share.
Messenger supports sharing higher resolution images and videos in chats through the app. To send an HD photo in a chat, select a photo from your device's photo library, then tap the HD icon on the right side of the screen and tap send. If you need to share multiple photos at the same time, press the HD button after selecting all photos, then press send.
Create shared albums with friends
Messenger adds the feature of creating shared albums in group chats, helping users share, organize and reminisce with relatives and friends about memories associated with those images and videos.
To create a new album in a group chat: Select multiple photos from the compose tool or long press on a photo in the chat; Click create album; To add to an existing album, tap add to album.
From there, everyone in the chat can view, add, delete and download images and videos from the album. To find the album at any time, tap the chat group name, then tap the media file. This feature will be rolled out to users in the coming weeks.
Add new friends using QR code
Instead of entering names or phone numbers, Messenger users can easily connect with new friends by scanning their Messenger QR codes or sharing their QR codes.
To connect with a new friend, go to settings and tap the QR code icon in the upper left corner of the screen. From there, users can scan the QR code with the device's camera or share their QR code.
Send files up to 100MB right from your mobile device
Instead of sharing via email, users can send files up to 100MB directly through the Messenger application. This new feature supports all popular file formats, including: Word, PDF, Excel and zip.
Meta strives to make Messenger a platform to express yourself, chat privately, and connect with close relationships to new relationships. In the future, Messenger will continue to improve through updated versions and new features to enhance users' experience of using the application.
