Genshin Impact: Beginner Characters Guide

At the beginning of the Genshin Impact journey, the Traveler will soon unlock a few companions for his team. At first, they will meet Amber, a Pyro Archer. After that, the player will also own Lisa and Kaeya.

The Traveler, Amber, Lisa, and Kaeya are often considered the starting characters. However, there are actually more than 4 of these characters. Noelle is taken from Beginner's Wish, Barbara is given to Travelers at Adventure Rank 18 (or higher) who have completed the quest A Long Shot.

Meanwhile, to own Xiangling, the player needs to reach the 4th floor of the Spiral Abyss for the first time. Any Traveler will own all of these characters, but not everyone will know how to take advantage of them.

In this article, learn how to play Genshin Impact's starters, taking advantage of them and their strengths.

Instructions for playing the starting characters in Genshin Impact

Noelle is stable in every position

Noelle is often seen as someone who can do many things but is not completely good at anything. The Favonius maid can shield, heal, or even act as the main DPS. While it's better for players to focus on a single role at a time, Noelle can totally take on them all at once.

One thing to note is that the maid Favonius can only fully function as a DPS at maximum Constellations. Furthermore, since Noelle does not generate her own energy, the Traveler must equip the same Battery as the Geo Traveler.

Kaeya is a great side DPS

Among Genshin Impact's many sword users, Kaeya has one of the highest normal attack coefficients. This means that Kaeya can produce an excellent DPS, especially at C1.

However, as a beginner character, it may be difficult for people to unlock Kaeya's Constellation. Therefore, players often choose to use Kaeya as Sub-DPS instead.

As a secondary DPS, Kaeya can deal out-of-field Cryo damage that lasts for 8 seconds. With his Elemental Skill, this Cavalry Captain also makes a great battery. So while most Travelers don't use Kaeya as their primary DPS, he certainly deserves the chance to be a secondary DPS on a team.

Never miss Xiangling

It's rare to see a player who doesn't use Xiangling in their journey. This chef Liyue is not only free, but very admirable. She is one of the best Sub-DPS in the game. Like Kaeya, Xiangling can deal massive damage to Pyro out of field.

Most of Xiangling's Constellations augment her Sub-DPS ability. Possessing Xiangling will be easier than collecting Kaeya. Also, missing this character can cause more difficulties in the Traveler's journey.

Electro Traveler provides very good power

After Inazuma was released, the Traveler was finally able to resonate with the element Electro. Like many other Electro characters, this version of the Traveler has abilities that revolve around Energy Regeneration, serving as the battery that powers the party.

Electro Traveler is really great at this job, being able to provide continuous power regeneration, power destruction and electrical applications.
