Before being known all over the world and the current No. 1 search engine, Google is actually just a sample product of two graduate students of Stanford, Sergey Brin and Larry Page.
The two co-founders used Stanford's domain name to run their search engine. Google's first domain name is Google.Stanford.edu. Later, both registered Google.com domain names in September 1997 before officially launching search engines in 1998.

Facebook.com
With more than 1 billion users, the Facebook.com domain has become so familiar. However, in the beginning, the founder Mark Zuckerberg chose for his social network TheFacebook.com domain name.
The domain name was based on Zuckerberg's acronym for a photo book published internally at Harvard University, with content including students' names and photos to help them get to know each other. In a change of design on this social network in August 2005, the development team decided to simplify the name by changing the website domain name to Facebook.com.
Reportedly, Facebook had to spend up to $ 200,000 to buy the domain name 'Facebook.com' because at that time it was owned by another person.

Twitter.com
Similar to Facebook, Twitter 'microblogging' also used to carry another domain name before being known for the Twitter.com domain.
Specifically, the three co-founders of Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams and Biz Stone initially chose the domain name for their social networking service, Twttr.com. A few months later, in 2006, three co-founders spent $ 7,500 to buy the domain of Twitter.com from a website specializing in birds.

Ask.com
Launched in June 1996 by David Warthen and Garrett Gruener, Ask.com originally brought the domain AskJeeves.com, quite long and hard to remember. This is the first search engine in the world to be able to respond to user questions, instead of just searching as keywords.
The word "Jeeves" appears in the domain AskJeeves.com is the character in the novel by the famous British writer PG Wodehouse. By 2006, the company that owned the decision to change the domain name AskJeeves.com to Ask.com was both easy to remember and mean more to bring the search experience to users.

PerezHilton.com

Initially, the site was named MSNBC.com, a media collaboration between Microsoft and NBC. However, this partnership ended in July 2012 and NBC decided to rename the site to NBCNews.com.
Currently, accessing MSNBC.com domain will automatically redirect to NBCNews.com website.
PayPal.com
PayPal.com is one of the most popular online payment services available today. Initially, this site was launched with a fairly exclusive domain name, X.com.
X.com is an online payment service that combines Confinity, a money transfer service company and X.com, a company that helps solve business-related issues faced by businesses.
After a period of activity, many of the comments suggested that X had too many meanings, such as a mysterious, ambiguous meaning and even arousing thoughts about pornography. Finally, Confinity has decided to change its service name to PayPal and select the PayPal.com domain name.
Currently the X.com domain name is still active, owned by the e-commerce company under eBay. (PayPal is also owned by eBay).
