Anyone can now register a .app domain with HTTPS integration
Since May 8, Google has opened a Top-Level Domain TLD for anyone who can register, previously available only to application developers.
.app is the first high-end domain name to use HTTPS only
The .app domain name is an important milestone in the domain name industry because it is the first TLD that requires pages to have SSL certificates and only by passing content over HTTPS by default. Users cannot access the site unless it is securely connected via HTTPS.
- Websites that use HTTP protocol will have to switch to HTTPS if they do not want to "slip" and "blacklist" Goole

Google purchased .app domain privileges from ICANN in February 2015 for $ 25,001,000, the largest ever paid to TLD owners. As a result, they can impose only using HTTPS connections for these domains.
There are more than 100,000 .app domains registered
Google has officially announced about .app on May 1 when it opened the Early Access Program, with a little fee, users can register the domain name they want before Google receives registration from the public.

Not every developer can register the .app domain name
This is a success when users have registered more than 100,000 domains through the Early Access Program. Many domain names are 'as expensive as hot cakes' from 8/5 when everyone can register. Users and companies are advised to register the domain name they want before they have registered.
After entering the extended registration period, you can register .app domain names with domain managers, some even provide free SSL certificates to help customers.
Not surprisingly, Google forced to use HTTPS for the .app domain name. They pushed the default connection over HTTPS in Chrome.
