You restart the machine with the reset key on the case, press the F8 key before Windows appears on the screen. Instead, the Advanced Options Menu list appears, use the up and down arrow keys to select the Last Known Good Configuration command and press Enter . This function reloads the hardware and software configuration of the last successful Windows startup.
If, for some reason, Windows still doesn't work again, repeat the call to list the Advanced Options Menu and this time select the Safe Mode line and then press Enter . This option offers a bootable version of Windows with the most basic and basic components. When the system has finished booting, run Windows' available System Configuration Utility with the click of Start / Run . Next from the keyboard enter msconfig into the Open box and click OK .
In the General table, select the Selective Startup item so that the computer resets the default operating system configuration in files that store system information such as SYSTEM.INI or WN.INI . After this option and click the OK button, the computer will restart and perform a full system check.
The last method you need to perform if the computer still has not started Windows is to put the Windows Installer CD into booting the system. As soon as the Welcome to Setup screen opens, press Enter immediately, if you see the required serial number, fill it in and then press the R key so that the program will automatically perform the repair process, restore the system to fail operability again.
With Vista
This operating system provides an additional option, Repair Your Computer is located at the top of the list of Advanced Boot Options . This function is similar to the system solution of the Windows XP installation program. After selecting, the System Recovery Options screen opens, run the Startup Repair section immediately so that the system is automatically restored. This is also a function available on the Vista installation DVD. You can insert the disc to boot the computer and perform this process.
Leave Windows fresh again
The System Restore utility is responsible for setting Windows system restore points automatically or by user settings. Thus, once the system has unexpected changes or application software crashes, you can use this utility to restore Registry keys at a previous time when the computer is running smoothly.
To call the utility, click Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore . Select the Restore my computer to an earlier time item and click Next . The dates of the bold color in the calendar are the restore points stored on the system. If there are no points in the current month, browse for the following months to find out if the date can be restored.
With the Vista operating system, you can click the Start button and type system restore to press the Enter key to call this utility. To find out where to enable system recovery, choose Choose a different restore point , and then click Next . The computer will then automatically execute the specified function.
This system recovery utility only has the function of reconstructing the system information so it does not delete other data stored in the computer.
