Despite being a latecomer, LG knows how to make the world of headphones in general and the market of true wireless headphones in particular with the launch of a disinfectant true wireless headset model, ensuring hygiene during use.
This new model, called LG Tone + Free, does not support hands-free access to the virtual assistant tool, does not possess superior battery life, nor is it equipped with active noise cancellation. Instead, it supports a true 'killer' feature, called UVnano, that can kill almost all harmful bacteria on the headset through the ultraviolet rays emitted in the charging cocoon.
You may not notice it, but the surface of the headset is one of the locations that contains lots of bacteria. We use headphones almost daily, but not many people have a habit of cleaning them with antiseptic alcohol. Sweat and dirt accumulated for a long time are no more favorable environment for the growth of bacteria, which can cause ear infections.
The principle of operation of the UVnano feature is very simple, in the charging cocoon of Tone + Free will be equipped with 2 UV lighting systems. When you put the headset in the charging cocoon, UV rays will be shone directly into the ear canal to disinfect. The two types of bacteria that often appear on headphones that LG claims will be wiped out are Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
However, when it comes to a headset, the most important factor will still be sound quality. Thanks to Meridian Technology from the renowned manufacturer Meridian, the sound quality that Tone + Free gives is extremely impressive in its price range, emphasizing quite a lot on the Bass and Treb bands, for the ability to 'hit' the young music, Vibrant very well. In addition, the ability to record calls is also a appreciated factor on this headset, the voice is not cracked, broken whether you listen to the phone in a noisy environment. Along with that, IPX4 water resistance for flexible use needs.
In terms of battery life, Tone + Free lasts up to 6 hours on a full charge, more than both Apple AirPods and Amazon Echo Buds, but significantly less than many other models on the market such as Surface Buds. or Powerbeats Pro. LG has not yet announced the battery capacity in Tone + Free's cocoon, nor how the UVnano function affects battery life.
Tone + Free is currently sold in the Korean market for 259,999 won (about 215 USD), with 2 colors white and black.
