In the Shell Eco-marathon Americas contest in 2017, a group of Laval University students in Quebec and Canada surpassed 114 other teams to win the first prize with a 4,366-kilometer road car from Philadelphia on the East Coast to Los. Angeles in the US West Coast with only 3.7 liters of gasoline.

This model is fitted with a two-horsepower engine using gasoline fuel. Three factors that make this model successful are: light, with dynamic design and powerful engine.

Along with creative design, this group of students also made a wise strategy when running a test in Detroit, Michigan. First, the car is accelerated to 32 km / h, then the driver shuts off the engine, leaving the car gliding inertia. When the vehicle speed drops to 14 km / h, the engine is restarted and the strategy is repeated.

Obviously, this winning model is not really for the purpose of daily travel.

This is their 4th win in this competition. Last year, they also won with a model that can run 1,098km with only 1 liter of fuel.

The Shell Eco-marathon Americas 2017 competition has more than 1,200 students from 7 countries participating. Model cars must run a test of about 10 km in Detroit, Michigan with an average speed of about 7 meters per second.
