Revealing the size of Apple's first foldable iPhone model
Recently, the information that Apple is developing a foldable iPhone has attracted the attention of the technology world. Some recent leaks have revealed the core specifications of this device. Accordingly, the foldable iPhone is expected to have an external screen measuring about 5.49 inches and an internal screen measuring 7.74 inches, putting it in the category of book-shaped folding phones.

If Apple sticks with this size, the first foldable iPhone will be more compact than many other foldables on the market today. Currently, very few book-style phones have such small external displays. Google's Pixel Fold, due in 2023, has a 5.8-inch external display and a 7.6-inch main display, while Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a 6.3-inch external display and a 7.6-inch internal display.
In particular, the first-generation foldable iPhone (the official name has not been announced yet) is expected to have a wider aspect ratio than Samsung's Z Fold series. With advanced display technologies such as LTPO for power saving, CoE for improved color accuracy, and UTG for increased durability, Apple can deliver a unique user experience without sacrificing screen size.
Additionally, the foldable iPhone's compact size could be a boon for those looking for a foldable phone that isn't too bulky. The device is expected to be 9.2mm thick when folded and about 4.6mm thick when unfolded. Compared to Oppo's ultra-thin Find N5, which is 8.93mm thick when folded, the foldable iPhone is still a bit thicker. However, when compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is 5.6mm thick when unfolded and 12.1mm thick when folded, the foldable iPhone starts to look more appealing in terms of design.
However, it should be noted that these are just initial leaks and are subject to change. Apple's first foldable iPhone is not expected to launch until next year.
