At a press conference ahead of the MWC 2019 exhibition, Oppo introduced its 10x optical zoom system on smartphones. This is a major breakthrough for cameras on smartphones because it allows users to capture images at a distance and still ensure the image quality.

This optical zoom capability is achieved by a combination of 3 lenses, including a high resolution up to 48MP lens (support for OIS vibration) with focal lengths ranging from 35-160 mm, one tube 16MP wide-angle glass up to 120 degrees with a 16 mm focal length and a telephoto lens (unknown resolution) designed as a periscope with a focal length between 35-160 mm. This camera system makes it possible to change the focus in the range of 16-160 mm.

However, although the system has been equipped with OIS image stabilization system, when the zoom is far away, shaking will occur. Therefore, to be able to capture a sharp picture at a distance, users will have to keep the camera steady.

As expected, Oppo will release this device in the second quarter of 2019.
