The new ThinkPad Edge series has a sleeker design, a simplified keyboard and slightly larger size keys so users can type more easily. The new model will be marketed in three different sizes and has three colors for users to choose from. The product will have a starting price of $ 549 and be sold in the US market.
The Edge series is designed to target small and medium-sized businesses. According to Charles Sune, market manager of ThinkPad market, this product line is focused mainly on the design and aesthetics of the company.
The company will officially announce this product line at the annual CES Consumer Electronics Show from 7-10 January in Las Vegas.
Lenovo in China is the fourth largest computer manufacturer in the world. Its PC shipments rose 18% from July to September compared with last year, according to market research firm IDC. Meanwhile, the company announced that revenue for the same period fell 15% to $ 4.1 billion.
Introduced by IBM in 1992 and as a pioneer in laptop design, more than 30 million ThinkPad laptops have been marketed. Big Blue sold its PC component to Lenovo in 2005. According to Lenovo, adding AMD's Neo chip to the ThinkPad line will allow it to offer a lower price for this product.
However, the company will still offer ThinkPads equipped with Intel chips. In addition, the company also launched a new popular ThinkPad to fill the gap between netbooks and laptops, but with a full-size keyboard.
According to Lenovo, the 11.6-inch X100e weighs less than 1.35kg and will be sold at a starting price of 449USD.
