How to copy data from real machine to VMware virtual machine
VMware virtual machine is software that allows us to create a computer running a virtual operating system in parallel with the real machine. By creating an operating system similar to VMware, we can use 2 computers at the same time with 1 screen, which is very convenient for us to test the software, serving the personal work that needs both machines. .
1. Install VMware tools software
Step 1: You open VMware Workstation and open Windows on the virtual machine and then click on the menu VM => Reinstall VMware Tools .
Step 2: Click Run Run setup64.exe in the popup on the screen.
Step 3: Click Next to continue.
Step 4: Choose Modify and click Next .
Step 5: You continue to click Next to move to the next step.
After installation is complete, click Finish to complete. Then we restart the virtual machine is finished.
2. Copy data from the real machine to the virtual machine
Step 1: After installing VMware Tools and restarting the computer, create an empty folder inside the virtual machine. Then you drag and drop a file, any folder in the real machine into the folder in the virtual machine. If the mouse cursor shown in the image below is okay.
After that the data copy process will take place, you wait after the status bar runs to 100%.
Step 2: After copying the data successfully, the file will be displayed in the virtual machine as shown below. You can open and manipulate files, folders as if using a real computer.
3. Use the Copy & Paste command
Step 1: Like drag & drop method 2 but in this way we will use Copy and Paste . You right click on the file in the real machine select Copy .
Step 2: Then right-click on the virtual machine and select Paste .
If the file is successfully copied, it will be displayed on the Desktop of the virtual machine. You just need to open that file and use it.
4. Using the folder sharing feature (Share Folder)
Step 1: You open up VM Ware, then you go to VM (1) => Settings (2) .
Step 2: Select Options (1) => Shared Folders (2) => Always enabled (3) => Add (4) .
Step 3: Click Next to continue.
Step 4: Click Browse to select the shared folder on the real machine.
You create a folder to facilitate sharing and click OK to save.
Step 5: Select Enable this share and click Finish to save.
Step 6: After creating the shared folder, we will see a new folder created as shown below. Open that folder and copy the data from the real machine into that Folder to share to the virtual machine.
Step 7: Go back to the virtual machine and open Network (1) . Here, a network with the name vmware-host (2) appears, please click on it.
Step 8: Click on Shared Folders.
Step 9: Then you open the folder you created for sharing and you will see the shared file from the real machine as shown below.
