Twitter recently made changes to the user interface on the desktop version. And new changes mimic some elements of the mobile version. The company is proud that the application has added customization and improved navigation experience. The most noticeable change is that the top navigation bar has been moved to the left of the screen.
But for any large online application, these significant changes are not welcome by everyone. If you are not happy with the new design layout, you can get back to the old interface. Here are some ways to get back to the old Twitter user interface on the web.
Tips to regain Twitter's old interface
There is no official way to get back to the old Twitter design. However, there are a few tricks you can use to bring the interface back to the used version.
First, use some hidden Twitter settings that you may not know yet and be 'buried' in the menu system. Click the More button in the left menu. Then navigate to Settings and privacy> About Twitter> Directory .
Now, from the Directory page , just click the Home or Notifications tab in the upper left corner at the top of the page. It will give you the old Twitter user interface that you are used to and love.
Remember that the new user interface will come back whenever you leave. So you may want to bookmark this Directory page on Twitter or leave that tab open.
Use GoodTwitter extension
You can use a browser extension called GoodTwitter to revert to your Twitter experience. Extensions are available for both Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. After installing GoodTwitter, visit Twitter and the app will load up just like before the user interface is redesigned. The extension icon will appear in blue on the toolbar when it works. If at first it doesn't work, clear the cache and reload the page.
Note that the Chrome browser will warn you that the extension will read your browsing history. However, the developer still insisted that there was no such thing and there was a detailed article on why Chrome said so. This extension is open source and you can find it on GitHub.
It is important to note that although these options work right now, they may not work in the future. If Twitter is committed to making the web version like the mobile version, it can remove the GoodTwitter Directory or extension tips, at any time. But, for the time being, go ahead and use one of these tips to enjoy the application on the old interface.
Hope you are succesful.
