BlackBerry has just announced that the company has reached an agreement with Amazon, allowing BlackBerry 10.3 users to download and install applications from the Amazon Appstore.
Reportedly, its app store has exceeded 240,000 applications , while BlackBerry World currently only reaches 130,000 applications and lacks many popular applications like Candy Crush, Netflix and Pinterest.
With the decline of BlackBerry in the smartphone market, developers are not too concerned about the effort to create applications for BlackBerry 10.3. Meanwhile, although there are no large application ecosystems, more and more developers are participating in Appstore development, showing signs of its rapid and promising growth.
Statistics show that BlackBerry application store is stagnant, Appstore has tripled in just one year. The highlight of Appstore is that it allows developers to easily tweak Android apps to Fire OS instead of having to completely redo the application for BlackBerry OS.
John Chen 's BlackBerry CEO himself recently admitted to the Wall Street Journal that he did not want to spend the time and money needed to develop an app store for BlackBerry. And choose Amazon's Appstore as a solution to help the company increase the number of applications that support its devices, especially when the app store is being developed by Amazon.
Under the agreement, BlackBerry users can download apps from Amazon's Appstore, and the Appstore app will be available for BlackBerry devices 10.3.
