Symantec: 'Kneber' is not a new threat
Recently a few articles mentioned an online threat called "Kneber" and identified it as a new type of malware.
But security firm Symantec thinks it's not, Kneber is simply another name for the Zeus Trojan worm. The Kneber name simply means a specific group of computer ghosts, also known as bots, controlled by a deep owner. The Trojan itself is similar to Trojan.Zbot, also known as the Zeus worm, which has been discovered, analyzed, and blocked since it first appeared in 2007.
Since the Zeus / Zbot worm toolkit has been widely distributed in the underground economy, it is not surprising that attackers use it to create new variants, such as Kneber, all over Ghost computer network Zeus.
Therefore, according to Symantec's security experts, it is true that this Kneber chain in the entire computer network is very big, but it is not related to any new malicious threats. Therefore, computer users who use the most up-to-date security software will naturally be protected from this threat.
