AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT - the next 'monster' in the world of crypto mining!

One of the main reasons for the shortage of supply in the graphics card market over the past several months stems from the explosion in cryptocurrency mining.

This causes the price of GPUs to rise and it is difficult for the gaming community to access a source of new, quality gaming cards.

Many gamers did not have the opportunity to own the AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT graphics card when the product was launched a little while ago. Simply because the product was immediately sold out within a few minutes, and the listed selling price also quickly increased after that. To make matters worse, it was discovered that this model of graphics card could become an attractive new solution for cryptocurrency miners.

According to recent reports, the Radeon RX 6600 XT, AMD's newly launched $379 GPU model can provide extremely impressive crypto mining performance, especially for Ethereum (ETH).

For cryptocurrency miners, performance per watt is often the most valuable metric on a GPU, and the Radeon RX 6600 XT can do just that. Specifically, as revealed by YouTuber Dizzy Mining, the Radeon RX 6600 XT provides 32MH/s performance in Daggerhashimotto but only consumes 55 Watts of power. These are extremely impressive numbers, and in terms of mining performance per watt, the Radeon RX 6600 XT far surpasses any previous AMD graphics card, and dominates the price segment. For comparison, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, a GPU model that is highly regarded for its mining capabilities, also 'only' provides about 28MH/s at 80W.

Before that, the AMD Radeon VII was considered the 'king' but also only had a PPW (Performance per Watt) rating of 0.465. That is still inferior to the 0.581 level of the RX 6600 XT, while having a much more expensive list price, more than 700 USD.

One reason behind Radeon RX 6600 XT's impressive performance per watt in crypto mining could be due to the 128-bit bus interface on this graphics card. With some voltage adjustments and a lower number of memory chips that need to be powered, this essentially improves the efficiency of cryptocurrency mining. But for gamers, this could be bad news, because the opportunity to own this GPU model at a reasonable price will probably be far away, at least for the time being.
