Norton antivirus adds Ethereum mining feature

Usually, anti-virus software will be designed to destroy the stealthy cryptocurrency miners on your computer. However, NortonLifelock (formerly Symantec) had a groundbreaking way of thinking.

NortonLifelock has integrated the Ethereum mining feature into their Norton antivirus software.

'As the crypto economy becomes more and more important in the lives of our customers, we want to empower them to mine with Norton, a brand they can trust.' , said Vincent Pilette, CEO of NortonLifelock. "Norton Crypto is another innovative example of how we're working to extend the Syber Safety platform to protect our customers' ever-evolving digital lives."

Norton Crypto allows customers to mine Ethereum by pooling the GPU power of computers with Norton installed. The revenue will then be divided among all users who sign up for the program.

NortonLifelock said this is a safe solution for users to become "miners" without installing troublesome software on their computers. Besides, the earned income will always be saved on Norton's cloud crypto wallet so it won't be affected if the hard drive has problems.

'We are proud to be the first cybersecurity firm to offer virtual currency mining, turning your time away from your computer into an opportunity to earn digital money safely and easily,' said Gagan. Singh, product manager of NortonLifelock shared. 'With Norton Crypto, our customers can mine cryptocurrencies with just a few clicks, avoiding barriers that prevent them from entering the crypto ecosystem.'

Norton says the Ethereum mining feature will officially be updated in the next few weeks.
