Alpha One is an electric plane and self-driving. This autonomous plane is 20 feet long, 19 feet wide and weighs 745 kg. It has eight rotors and a six-rotor design that allows the aircraft to fly the air flying vertically, and then adjust its angle to divert flight.
With Vertical and Take-off and Landing (VTOL) design, this engine helps the aircraft take off and land in areas like parking lots. It is the ideal vehicle for short distance trips, in a city like Mumbai or Delhi where ordinary people struggle with traffic jams.
Although in the test, Alpha One only flew in the air for 53 seconds, but Airbus still aims to upgrade the design to bring this self-driving aircraft to market by 2020.
Besides Airbus, some companies are also developing their self-driving taxi products. Along with Google, Larry Page is developing an unmanned taxi, named "Cora". This aircraft is being developed by Kitty Hawk.
Cora is a self-driving aircraft that can fly 150 km / h faster and has a travel range of up to 100 km. It is currently undergoing test flights in New Zealand. Another company, Uber, plans to start a taxi service in Dubai, Dallas, and Los Angeles in early 2020. However, there are some obstacles before the actual taxi is put into operation. , including aviation safety regulations, technical incidents, . More importantly, persuading people to accept a self-driving taxi is not easy.
