Delay seems to be a " century disease " that many of us often suffer. So what is the root cause of this disease?

People often postpone work. From the start of something, people thought about delaying something. Sometimes the delay is harmless. For example, washing. No one likes to do laundry, until the pile of clothes is so stinking that you don't want to wear them again, you'll still be a good citizen of the society if you delay washing clothes for a few hours. ( or a few days ).

By studying this topic, I delayed this article until it was close to the deadline for submission. And you know, I even postponed it a bit more ( entirely for research purposes ), it's still done. Here are 9 reasons that often cause you to postpone work that may or may not be. Sit down and see how bad your situation is:

1. You want to control everything

If you stop everything, it means that things will not go astray, right? When procrastinating, work is still under your control and makes you feel secure. However, this obviously also means that work cannot be completed. Unfortunately, you cannot delay it forever.

2. You see each job as a big project

Honestly, almost everything we do can be broken down into small pieces for easy control. For example, consider washing clothes that I mentioned above. If washing clothes seems to be a daunting task, divide it into steps. Collect all dirty clothes. Classify color and white items. Put in the washing machine. Dry. Fold them. Obviously, washing clothes is a simple example, but this may apply in some other cases. By breaking each section apart, you will find things much easier to accomplish.

3. You are a perfectionist

Sometimes we often like perfectionism. However, this will lead to many problems being postponed or left out just because you are concerned that a result may not be perfect. Remember that there is nothing to worry about if things don't work out exactly as you expected. Moreover, a job that is completed, though not perfect, is better than a job unfinished in the middle.

4. You fear failure

Fear of failure always entices you to postpone work. Of course, you will not be able to fail without ever starting to implement it. Unfortunately, this way of thinking will greatly reduce the efficiency of work. Facing the fear of failure will help you overcome that fear or help you learn to control it. So, the next time you think about delaying a job just because you're afraid of failure, just dismiss that idea. Overcoming it, you will be more mature with the experience gained.

5. You do not have good self-control

Each of us has different autonomy. However, you need to achieve a certain degree of autonomy to work effectively. Delayed disease will be easy to find for those who lack discipline, fail to complete the task on time and work without that organization.

6. You do not list what to do

Occasionally, procrastination is a consequence of half-lifting. If you put something aside and forget the note, it's very likely you'll completely forget it. If you are a forgetful person, make a list of things to do, write down all the tasks and just cross out when you're 100% complete.

7. You estimate low on commitment time

Surely it will be extremely frustrating when it takes you two weeks to complete a project that you think only takes a week? Regularly estimating the wrong time can easily lead to more delays, you will tend to delay when you think you have time to complete. But when you realize you don't have as much time as you expected, you may have to step into a real "arduous race" to get things done.

8. You (merely) have the ability

Delaying a job is not always bad. Many people often work better and more effectively when there is pressure, while others are merely lucky. However, after some time the delay will not go so smoothly. Be mindful of the quality of the work and make sure that you don't reveal the trail of sprint minutes because it will be a great minus point.

9. You are lazy

Lazy is the number one cause that most of us postpone. We feel no interest in doing anything and . do nothing. However, laziness is not always bad because it helps you recharge your energy a bit. You may be lazy to watch TV shows every now and then, but it's okay to not scan your house. Just don't let that act become your bad habit.
