According to Bkis statistics on the network security situation in Vietnam, there were 1,037 Vietnamese websites that were attacked by hackers in 2009, more than doubling compared to 2008 (461 websites) and three times higher than in 2007. The most vulnerable websites are Internet service providers, financial companies, banks and government agencies. Particularly in November 2 and December 2009, BKIS recorded 18 websites of ministries and departments that were attacked by hackers.
In addition to lax security reasons, according to Mr. Nguyen Tu Quang, Bkis General Director, many website development companies do not understand much about security, while most units when renting a website have not set the post. security.

The weakness of websites in Vietnam has been evident in the two most popular hacks of 2009: the network of GhostNet spy computers and Conficker worm.
The GhostNet network was discovered in March 2009 and attacked 1,300 computers in 103 countries around the world, in which Vietnam ranked second in terms of the number of computers that were attacked by the network after Taiwan. Vietnam also ranked 4th in the list of countries with the most heavily infected Conficker, with about 73,000 infected computers.
