 .NET is a free, open source, cross-platform framework used to build cross-platform cloud services and applications. The dotnet.microsoft.com website is a familiar address for developers, providing information about the .NET platform and storing important downloads for the framework.

A lot of developers are relying on this site to automatically download specific versions of the .NET framework for their build and test systems. For example, if a continuous integration (CI) system points to https://dot.net/v1/dotnet-install.ps1, it redirects to https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet /scripts/v1/dotnet-install.ps1, and this address has been inaccessible for many hours.

Microsoft acknowledged the outage and successfully restored the site. In the meantime, Microsoft has suggested that developers use raw GitHub links as an alternative to download the necessary scripts.

The good news is that the problem has been fixed and the website is back to normal. However, the cause of the incident has not yet been revealed.
