The 2009 MacBook is stronger in graphics

Still at a high price, the new MacBook "sports" a lighter and lighter aluminum alloy. It supports a powerful Nvidia 9400M graphics chip and a high-speed Core 2 Duo processor of the P7350 series that saves power.

The first difference of the new MacBook is the shell made of aluminum alloy and glass instead of plastic.

In terms of size, nothing changes, it still satisfies the needs of a compact notebook for every customer. Weighs about 2.27 kg with sizes: 2.75 cm thick, 32.5 cm horizontal, 22.7 cm vertical. This weight includes a charger with a capacity of 60 Watt and lighter than the old version.

A prominent feature of this product is the improved back light LED technology. The comparison results show that the mirror screen of the aluminum MacBook is slightly brighter than the plastic version. Viewing angles below 45 degrees can also clearly see the image displayed.

With a size of 13 inches, the 1,280 x 800 pixel resolution support is quite good. The ability to watch videos or manipulate images is fully displayed. However, color cannot be compared to the aluminum version.

The distinctive design keyboard has begun to meet other competitors imitating. The typing key is quite smooth and almost no more noisy than the predecessors. Still keep the old design but the multi-point application on the trackpad when viewing the image will not have: rotate or zoom the picture.

The lock between the LCD and the camera body is also designed with magnetic materials. The connection ports remain unchanged with a Firewire 400, 2 USB 2.0 ports, mini DVI, RJ45 and micro and headphone jacks.

The integrated Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 2.0 Ghz processor is designed with power-saving 45mm Penryn platform. In addition, the cache (cache) is raised to 3 MB and the buss rate is improved to 1,066 Mhz, making the CPU's processing speed better than the Core 2 Duo models with only 2 MB.

Graphics chip Nvidia Geforce 9400M 256 MB for efficient image and video processing. However, the effect would be higher if this component combined with DDR3 RAM instead of following the manufacturer with only DDR2 RAM clocked smaller.

Compared to the previous version, the new product uses the OS X 10.5 operating system, which runs quite well. However, the ability to convert the clip format is not as fast as the processor in an old Mac. Image processing capability is also inferior.

The connection support ports have not changed, including Firewire.

The hard drive is Fujitsu 120 GB with a rotation speed of 5,400 revolutions per minute via the Sata 2 interface with a transfer rate of 3 GB per second. Apple's operating system does a lot more when its ability to take advantage of memory is not as effective as Vista. After booting, the total amount of RAM used is only about 294 MB.

The device also scored Xbench 119.01, 20-25% higher than the first generation of the MacBook Pro.

When running the Vista operating system, the device has to bear a lot of applications when it comes to 2 GB RAM. No heavy programs like antivirus are installed, but the computer has consumed about 500 MB when it just booted into the operating system.

The grading program for Windows PCMark05 operating system scores for this device at 4,423. Meanwhile, graphics performance is 1,733 points with 3DMark06 15% faster than older versions.

The supplied battery allows the device to operate for 5 hours with screen brightness of 75%. If watching movies continuously, the device can only run for about 3 hours 19 minutes.

Vibration and noise are solved quite well. The fragile feel of the hinge of the old MacBook is no longer in this new version.

The machine is expected to sell for about $ 1,300.
