Freescale Semiconductor has demonstrated a thin blade product with a 7-inch screen that automatically turns to a handheld, 3-megapixel camera and light sensor.
This device is called Freescale smartbook with 512 MB RAM, 64 GB memory (expandable via microSD card), 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor and $ 200.
The product works with Android or Linux operating systems, supports Wi-Fi standard n, Bluetooth, GPS, USB ports, miniUSB and can choose to add 3G modem. It is suitable for common applications like web browsing, e-mail, RSS reader, social networking tools, office applications .
Freescale's Smartbook uses 1900mAh battery, charging via USB port. The company will introduce smartbook designs at the CES exhibition, taking place in Las Vegas (USA) this weekend.
