2. Note before dividing the hard drive

To ensure the safety of all data as well as the smooth hard drive division process, you should note a few things such as:

  1. You should back up data before partitioning the hard drive.
  2. Do not divide too many hard drives, avoid wasting hard drive space to manage partitions, if your hard drive is larger than 1TB, you can divide 4 drives, if the hard drive has a capacity of less than 1TB, it should be divided up to 3 drives.
  3. It is recommended to divide the space for the drive containing the operating system and applications and software from 60GB or more so that the computer can achieve the most optimal processing speed.
  4. Set Active should be set up for the drive containing the operating system and applications and software to be prioritized to boot first.

3. How to Partition Hard Drive with MiniTool Partition Wizard

Step 1: Open Minitool Partition Wizard, click to select the hard drive to be divided > Select Create to open the Create new Partition interface on the software.

Step 2: Fill in the required parameters including:

  1. Partition Label: Name for the partition.
  2. Create As: The main partition (containing the operating system), select Primary, the remaining partitions choose Logical.
  3. Driver Letter: Select a drive letter (A, B, C .)
  4. File System: Choose NTFS or FAT32 partition format. It is recommended to use NTFS because NTFS is less error prone than FAT32 and can store files larger than 4GB.
  5. Cluster Size: Default.
  6. Size and Location: drag from right to left to set the new partition size.

Click OK.

Step 3: Right-click on the main partition containing the operating system with Create As as Primary > Select Set Active to avoid errors when ghosting Windows.

Click Yes to confirm again.

Step 4: Right-click the partition drive > Select Rebuild MBR to avoid ghost Windows error.
