Recently, Digital Trends recorded many reports of instability on high-end Intel CPUs, especially the Core i9-14900K due to the unlimited power supply to the CPU on some motherboards.

Recently, Asus released a new BIOS update for the Z790 motherboard to address this issue, including Intel Baseline Profile, a configuration that disables automatic optimizations applied on the Z790 motherboard. and limits Intel chip performance to standards set by Intel.

However, this update can cause CPU performance to decrease by up to 9% in certain tasks.

Hardwareluxx website tested this configuration with Core i9-14900K and found that in many tests CPU performance decreased by about 9%.

Specifically, in Y-Cruncher (a Multi-Threaded Pi program), CPU performance decreased by 11%. In Cinebench R23, performance dropped 9% and when testing Starfield, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and F1 2023 at 720p resolution also dropped 8%.

By default, Asus automatically applies optimizations on the Asus Z790 motherboard, leading to the possibility of instability. This BIOS update mainly occurs in other applications, with no significant impact on gaming performance.

Currently, the scope of this update's impact is still unknown. Currently, the two main chips experiencing instability are Intel Core i9-13900K and Core i9-14900K, while Core i7-13700K and Core i7-14700K are less affected. It's possible that other Intel CPUs don't have any problems.
