Selling laptop in October 2008

Almost half of the products that appear in the October selling laptop charts are new faces, notably Acer Extensa 4620Z with No. 2 and Apple MacBook.

Three positions 5, 6, 7 months ago including the MSI Wind, Acer Aspire 4930G, Acer Aspire 6935G plus the bottom-of-the-table model are the Acer TravelMate 6292 suddenly falling off the list.

Here are 10 best-selling laptops in the Asian market voted by Cnet magazine.

1. Compaq Presario CQ40 (Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 2.0 GHz CPU, 2 GB RAM, 250 GB hard drive, 14.1 inch screen).

On the list there is always fierce competition among big names, but CQ40 still occupies the number one position that has been available since last month.

Equipped with a Centrino 2 processor, Intel's new graphics card, CQ40 is aimed at mainstream users, requiring a device with basic features.

The Acer Aspire 2920Z still stands at No. 4 compared to the previous month.

With a 12.1-inch screen, the 2920Z has a beautiful design with soft curves in a simple configuration. Similar to the leading positions, this model also belongs to the low-end segment.

In the Vietnamese market, the low profile 2920Z is selling for about 750 USD.

5. HP Pavilion dv5 (Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26 GHz CPU, 2 GB RAM, 250 GB hard drive, 15.4 inch screen)

HP Pavilion dv5 last month is occupying the third position, this month has dropped 2 grades.

Just in the middle of the month, the new MacBook has been in the best selling laptop chart.

It has a beautiful design with a casing molded from aluminum blocks, a backlight keyboard and a multi-touch touchpad. Besides, the new model also impresses with Nvidia's graphics card.

The price of the new MacBook in some Apple Store is currently 1,500 USD.

9. ASUS Eee PC 1000H (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1 GB RAM, 40 GB, 10.2 inch)

Along with the Acer Aspire One, this month only 2 netbooks appeared in the ranking. The Eee PC 1000H ranked one place higher than last month.

The Dell Latitude E6500 has dropped two places from the previous month.
