Samsung displayed a 4K 146 inch TV called 'Wall' at CES 2018
At the CES technology event, there is one thing you will never be disappointed to believe, these are huge TVs.
The CES technology event seems different than it used to be when new technology initiatives emerged, such as self-driving cars. But there is one thing you will never be disappointed when you trust, those are huge TVs.
Samsung opened CES 2018 with a 146-inch 4K TV that they called themselves 'The Wall' - 'Wall'. Indeed, it is like a wall.
The Wall is one of Samsung's many TVs in 2018 using Micro LED display technology. If you don't know, in short, this is the next step for TV screen makers, the race we have witnessed over the years. The first is LED, then OLED, Quantum Dots and now that Micro LED.
The 146-inch-wide Wall uses the new Micro LED technology
Just like when any TV screen technology appeared when it first appeared, Samsung called Micro LED the next step for image quality. All Samsung TVs using Micro LED technology, including The Wall, are bright and have a higher contrast ratio. That means the colors will be more vivid, especially when viewing HDR content (or HDR 10+).
When I looked at it often, the image of The Wall was also very beautiful, but it was difficult to distinguish it from last year's QLED TV.
Micro LED may not be as attractive as the integrated AI technology that Samsung claims will be able to manually adjust non-8K content to 8K for playback on 8K TVs such as Q9S. Accordingly, the AI chip is connected to the database of content on the cloud, using 'recovery process to determine the characteristics of the content and create 8K' images. The AI will correct the details. , reduce image noise and sharpen the outline of objects and text.
On a Q9S, Samsung has shown a low resolution video, only 480p is increased to 8K. The resulting video is sharper but this is just a demo anyway. Still have to wait and see how it will work when used with actual content.
Smart AI automatically increases resolution for images
Samsung also brought many other technologies on TV in 2018 such as Bixby voice control and HDR 10+ support for Xbox One X.
Micro LED technology is also promoted to open the door to create a projection TV at any resolution and ratio you want. Of course this is just a word. As many other TVs were revealed at CES, The Wall did not come with the price but it certainly won't be cheap.
